PDO Threads

PDO (polydioxanone) threads are absorbable threads placed under the skin that combine two effects: mechanical support of facial structures and collagen stimulation over time. The threads are absorbed by the body, but the collagen formed continues contributing to firmness.

Who it is for

  • Mild to moderate laxity in the face and neck
  • Loss of definition along the facial contour
  • Complementing biostimulation protocols
  • Patients seeking support without surgery

How it works

After local anaesthesia, threads are introduced with cannulas or needles along paths planned during your assessment. Placement respects the anatomy of the region and the intended support vector. Swelling and small bruises in the first days are common.

Sessions and maintenance

The effect is temporary, and maintenance planning is individual, accounting for the type of thread used and each body's response.

Frequently asked questions

Will the threads be visible or feel hard?

+

Threads are placed in deeper skin planes and the material is absorbable. A pulling sensation is possible in the first days and tends to ease as the tissue settles.

How long is recovery?

+

Swelling and tenderness are usual in the first days, with specific guidance on facial movement, sleeping position and exercise. Return to activities varies with the extent of the procedure.

Can I have it if I scar badly?

+

A history of keloids or altered healing is a relative contraindication and must be assessed individually before any procedure that breaks the skin.

Is this the same as a surgical facelift?

+

No. Threads provide support in mild to moderate laxity and also act through collagen stimulation. Pronounced laxity may require a surgical approach, and that is stated clearly at your assessment.
